Lets just say I disagree
It was and can be an amateur sport. Not sure why thats so offensive. Countless kids (including my own) play a college sport for nuttin. They don't come home and feel oppressed. They are lined up around the block for the opportunity.
You can argue the TV money and all the millions. Ok but that doesn't change it being amateur for the participants. Would they rather not have that revenue and get dressed in beat up locker rooms and live in basic dorms like, gasp, regular college kids? Is the free ride education worth something? Sure wish my son got that.
I go back to the same thing: no one is forcing anyone to do this. Call it amateur or call it whatever. There are an infinite number of athletes dying to have the opportunity for one of these coveted spots on the roster. That pretty much nullifies any notion that someone is being oppressed or getting a raw deal.
I think your ideology comes from a good place but you go off track when you view this as labor and unfairly treated workers
